PCL1 Salt Lake Bees

Bandy Homer Not Enough for Bees

May 4, 2016 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Tacoma Rainiers handed the Bees their fourth consecutive loss with a 3-1 victory on Tuesday night. Former Bee Ed Lucas put Tacoma in front with a solo homer in the second inning and Tyler Smith led off the third with his first career Triple-A home run. The Bees got on the board in the fourth, as Jett Bandy belted an opposite field home run to right field to cut the Rainiers' lead in half, but that would be the extent of the Salt Lake offense. The Rainiers would add an insurance run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by another former Bee, Shawn O'Malley.

Bees' starter Nate Smith (2-1) took the loss, as he worked six innings and allowed just two runs on five hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Kaleb Cowart led the Bees with two hits, including a double. Not only did Bandy hit a home run, but he threw out two Tacoma runners attempting to steal second base.
