Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, CA - The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League have acquired goaltender Danielle Dube from the Long Beach Ice Dogs today. She will make her second career start tonight against the Anchorage Aces. Game time is 7:00pm.

Dube, 26, has several years of experience with the Canadian National Women's Team, including international tournaments. This is her first season of professional hockey, and she has played in two games this season, both with Long Beach. Making her pro debut on opening night this season, Dube faced 13 shots, stopping 12 in a 6-0 loss at San Diego on October 12th. She later started a contest in Long Beach against the Gulls, a 4-1 loss.

The Condors were in need of a goaltender when rookie Joel Martin returned to juniors today, signing with the Calgary Hitmen in the Western Hockey League. Starter Kevin St. Pierre is not eligible to come off the Injured Reserve list until tomorrow, leaving Bakersfield without a netminder.

Ken Baker will suit up as an Emergency Goaltender for the third consecutive game. Baker, who is currently the West Coast Bureau Chief with US Magazine, spent all of last season with the Condors while working on a book about his return to organized sports. He played collegiate hockey with Colgate University before a brain tumor ravaged his physical condition. As Emergency goaltender, Baker cannot play tonight unless Dube sustains an injury that forces her from the game.

The Condors host Anchorage at 7:00pm, with doors opening at 6:00pm. The famous ZOOperstars make their triumphant return to Centennial Garden tonight to entertain the crowd. All Condors games can be heard live on KGEO AM 1230, with Kevin Bartl handling the play-by-play. "Condors Countdown" starts 15 minutes prior to game time. The Condors next home game is against the Fresno Falcons on Friday, January 10th at 7:00pm.

Single-game tickets are available through the Centennial Garden Box Office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location. Season tickets and group outings may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825), or by visiting the Condors office at Centennial Garden.
