GREENSBORO GENERALS

The Generals walloped the Richmond Renegades 7-2 last night. Greensboro sprung to a 2-0 first period lead on goals from Pete Gardiner and Ole Kjenstad. Following a Richmond goal in the second period, the Generals put the game away with three unanswered goals in the second period on a Sam Ftorek goal and a pair of Kjenstad goals to complete the hat trick. The lead swelled to 7-1 in the third on David Whitworth and Mark Turner scores. Turner finished the night with five points, while Kjenstad and Gardiner both notched four points a piece.

PEORIA RIVERMEN

The Rivermen defeated the Lexington Men O' War last night 4-3 on the road. Lexington opened the scoring less than five minutes into the game, but Peoria retaliated with goals from Randy Copley and Tyler Rennette for a 2-1 advantage after one period of play. The lead went to 4-1 in the second period when Copley and Rennette struck again. The Men O' War would close the gap to 4-3 with a goal from Mark Smith in the second and Jared Smyth in the third, but Rivermen goaltender Alfie Michaud stymied the comeback bid, making 22 saves to preserve the win.
