Greensboro Generals News Release
GREENSBORO, NC - The Greensboro Generals were not able to maintain the scoring momentum from Friday's 7-2 victory over Richmond, as they fell to the Peoria Rivermen 5-2, despite re-setting a season high with 5,658 fans at the Greensboro Coliseum.
In the only matchup between the two teams all-season, Peoria (24-10-2) assumed a 1-0 lead with a goal by Trevor Baker. Pete Gardiner converted a power-play opportunity for the Generals, knotting the game at the 9:22 mark. The Rivermen would answer with a shorthanded goal by Tyler Rennette. The two teams would end the opening period at 2-2, after the Generals Sam Ftorek scored his team-leading 22nd goal.
After a single goal in the second period by Greg Day, the Rivermen headed into the third period with a 3-2 advantage. The Generals defensive efforts were not strong enough to stop Peoria from two goals in the final frame.
The Generals will next face the Roanoke Express on Wednesday, January 15 at the Greensboro Coliseum with a 7:00 start time. Fans can listen to the game on WPET 950AM and www.greensborogenerals.com.
