Asheville Tourists News Release
ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists fell to the Greenville Drive 8-2 on Thursday night in a game where the Tourists kept it closer than the final score indicates. Asheville's pitching duo of Trey Dombroski and Carlos Calderon kept Greenville scoreless in seven of the nine innings.
The Drive opened the scoring with a third inning that featured four runs on five hits. The Tourists answered in the bottom of the third when Jeron Williams walked, went to second on a Luis Baez single, stole third, and scored on an errant throw.
Baez brought the Tourists closer with a solo Home Run in the bottom of the fifth; his third Homer of the season. Greenville managed to rally for four additional runs in the top of the sixth; however, Calderon retired eight Drive hitters in a row and kept the visitors scoreless the final three frames.
Collin Price and Narbe Cruz joined Williams and Baez with hits in the game and John Garcia reached base twice as well. The Tourists will attempt to even up the series on Friday night with the first pitch set for 6:35pm ET.
