Back-To-Back Shutouts for Fisher Cats

New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

(Manchester, NH)-Chad Jenkins, Yohan Pino and Clint Everts combined on a five-hit shutout and the Fisher Cats blanked the SeaWolves for a second consecutive game, winning 3-0 Thursday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

Jenkins (5-4) picked up his third consecutive win, working 6.2 innings. He allowed five hits, walked four and struck out eight. Pino retired all four batters he faced and Everts pitched the ninth for his third save.

The first-place Fisher Cats (65-52) have also opened a six-game lead over both Reading and Trenton in the Eastern League's Eastern Division.

New Hampshire took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Callix Crabbe and John Tolisano opened with the game with consecutive walks issued by Erie losing pitcher Drew Smyly (2-1). Both moved up on a wild pitch with Crabbe scoring on a groundout by Travis d'Arnaud (1-for-3, R, RBI) for a 1-0 lead.

The Fisher Cats added the other two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. They loaded the bases on singles by Moises Sierra and d'Arnaud and a walk to Yan Gomes. Kevin Howard (3-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI) doubled, scoring Sierra and d'Arnaud.

New Hampshire won the series and finished the season with four wins in six games against Erie (56-61).

The Fisher Cats will play Akron on Friday at 7:05pm at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Carl Crawford Bobblehead courtesy of Quirk Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Volkswagon. RHP Nestor Molina will make his Double-A debut for New Hampshire against Akron RHP Steve Wright (1-1, 4.09).
