Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators swept their weekend matchup against the St. John's IceCaps with a 4-1 tonight.
Casey Bailey opened the scoring with just over three minutes remaining in the first period after he took a feed from Eric O'Dell behind the net and one-timed it past Eddie Pasquale for his sixth strike of the year. Binghamton outshot the IceCaps 8-4 over the first 20 minutes of play to take the 1-0 lead into the first intermission break.
O'Dell doubled the B-Sens lead 7:07 into the second frame with a power-play goal off assists from Cole Schneider and Michael Kostka. Fredrik Claesson completed a wrap-around attempt with just over 12 minutes to play in the period to increase Binghamton's advantage to 3-0. The B-Sens skated into the final break with their three-goal lead intact while outshooting the visitors 9-5 over the second period.
Morgan Ellis put an end to Chris Drieder's shutout bid after knocking home his twelfth goal of the year just past the midway point of the final frame. Buddy Robinson added an insurance empty-net goal with 48 seconds left to play pushing the final score to 4-1.
Driedger stopped 27 shots to pick up the win while Pasquale had 20 saves in the losing effort.
