BINGHAMTON, NY - The Altoona Curve pounded out a season-high 20 hits and pummeled the Binghamton Mets in the rubber match of a three-game series by a 15-6 score Sunday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. The loss bumped Binghamton's record back to three games under .500, matching their low-water mark on the year.

The Curve immediately jumped out to a lead just two pitches into the game. Robbie Grossman led off the first with an opposite field home run against starter Greg Peavey. Jarek Cunningham scored later in the frame on a sac fly.

Binghamton offered a response and briefly held a lead. Altoona starter Shairon Martis walked the first two he faced in the second and paid for it when Travis Ozga blasted a three-run homer to right. It was Ozga's fourth long ball of the season; all have been as a left-handed hitter.

The lead evaporated as quickly as it appeared. The Curve cashed in on two Binghamton errors in the third, taking the lead for good with a four-run inning. Quincy Latimore provided the highlight with a two-run homer to left.

The clubs then traded runs over the next four innings, with Binghamton never getting closer than two runs. Eric Campbell provided an RBI single in the third and Pedro Zapata supplied a run-scoring single in the sixth.

Peavey (3-3) exited after five innings after allowing seven runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks. He struck out just one in the losing effort.

Leading by 7-5 in the seventh, the Curve fully unleashed their offense against the Binghamton bullpen. Stefan Welch took Adrian Rosario deep down the right field line for his first home run as a member of the Curve. Altoona added two more runs against Rosario in the eighth.

The floodgates opened in the ninth under Robert Carson's watch. The lefty was tagged for five runs on six hits while recording just one out. Edgar Ramirez entered and allowed an RBI single to Altoona reliever Jeff Inman before collecting the final out.

Inman surrendered a run on two hits and two walks in the ninth before closing out the game with his second inning of relief. Martis (4-3) allowed five runs on five hits over 5.2 innings in the winning effort. Matt McSwain retired the only man he faced to end the sixth and Hunter Strickland contributed with a scoreless seventh inning to close the pitching tab for Altoona.

The B-Mets (31-34) enjoy a day off on Monday before kicking off a critical nine-game roadtrip. The swing begins in Akron, Ohio where the B-Mets will complete five games in three days. The clubs will resume a game on Tuesday that was suspended at NYSEG Stadium back on June 4. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM. A seven-inning game will follow.
