Four Thunder Hurlers Combine for 4-0 Shutout of Harrisburg

(Harrisburg, PA) - Ryan Pope, Francisco Rondon, Preston Claiborne and Kelvin Perez combined on a four-hitter as the Trenton Thunder blanked the Harrisburg Senators, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at Metro Bank Park to win the three-game series. Addison Maruszak drove in a pair of runs for the Thunder (39-28) as the team retained its half-game lead over Reading for first-place in the Eastern Division standings.

Harrisburg was limited to two second-inning singles and two ninth-inning singles. Pope, making his first start in over two years, tossed three shutout innings while Rondon (4-0) pitched 2.1 frames to earn the win. Claiborne retired all 7 batters he faced including a double-play groundout in 2.2 innings of work, while Perez threw a scoreless ninth.

Trenton scored single runs in the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Yadil Mujica's RBI single opened the scoring in the third against Harrisburg starter Ryan Tatusko (1-2), who allowed three runs in five innings. Maruszak picked up run-scoring singles in the third and sixth innings, while Zoilo Almonte lined an RBI double in the fifth.

The Thunder collected seven hits with Abraham Almonte and Maruszak each grabbing a pair. The shutout was Trenton's fifth of the season and second during the road trip.

Trenton has Monday off, then begins a seven-game homestand with a three-game series against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Game one will be Tuesday night at 7:05 pm, with right-hander Mikey O'Brien (4-1) expected to start for Trenton against righty Craig Westcott.
