Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
Close, But No Victory Cigar...Again
Trailing 4-0 to the Altoona Curve going into the ninth, the Binghamton Mets scored four times in their last at-bat, sending the game into extra innings, but Altoona won it 5-4 on a Jose Bautista homer leading off the bottom of the 12th. Bobby Malek's double tied the game in a ninth that saw Aarom Baldiris, David Bacani and Corey Ragsdale all pick up RBI. Rafael Lopez, Matt Lindstrom and Jose Rodriguez combined for 7 1/3 innings of one-run relief for the B-Mets, who've lost 16 of 22 in July.
âPen Not So Mighty
Last night, the B-Mets bullpen turned in one of its best outings over the last week, allowing two runs. In their last six games, the âpen's allowed 23 runs, 21 of them earned, spanning 26 2/3 innings (7.09 ERA). The Binghamton âpen hasn't turned in a scoreless outing since Anderson Garcia threw two shutout innings July 16th vs. Reading. B-Mets relievers have picked up just one save since June 22nd and haven't earned a win since June 30th at New Britain (Garcia). B-Mets starters own all six of the team's wins in July.
More Baseball? No Thanks
After falling last night in 12 innings, the B-Mets are 0-6 in extra-inning games on the road, compared to a 4-3 mark at NYSEG Stadium. Binghamton hasn't won an extra-inning game away from home since a 7-4, 10-inning win at Norwich August 9th, 2004.
Walking Off Winners
Last's night's win by Altoona is the eighth walk-off win against the B-Mets this season, and second on a home run. Chris Roberson beat the B-Mets with a 15th-inning homer May 17th at Reading. The B-Mets have picked up seven walk-off wins of their own this season.
