
Award-Winning Collegiate Infielder Joins Pheasants

SIOUX FALLS - The Sioux Falls Pheasants signed former Creighton University standout Nick Judkins, manager Steve Shirley announced on Thursday.
The Pheasants also placed outfielder Mark Shorey on the disabled list with an undisclosed injury, retroactive to July 4. Shorey has hit .307 with four home runs and 20 RBI in 42 games this season.
Judkins, 21, was a standout infielder with the Creighton Jays, where he earned the Rawlings Gold Glove award as the top collegiate first baseman in the nation. The Lakeville, Minn., native hit .313 with one home run and 31 RBI in his senior season this year. He led the Jays with 71 hits and was second on the squad with 38 runs scored and a .408 on-base percentage. At season's end, he was named to the All-MVC Tournament Team and the All-MVC Defensive Team.
Judkins will be active for tonight's series opener with the Sioux City Explorers at 7:05 p.m. in Sioux City. The game will be broadcast on Sioux Falls Sports Radio 1230-AM and www.kwsn.com.
