RedHawks Bomb AirHogs in Series Opener

Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release

FARGO, N.D. - The Grand Prairie AirHogs allowed three home runs (including two three-run shots and two by Nick Jackson), as the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks put up a season-worst 15 runs and 21 hits against Grand Prairie to win 15-9 in the series opener at Newman Outdoor Field on Thursday.

Grand Prairie (37-15) had a pair of leads in the game, at 2-0 after the top of the first and 8-7 after four, but the RedHawks (30-21) were not to be denied their ninth straight win. Seven Fargo-Moorhead players had multi-hit games and eight had at least one hit as they scored in six of their eight innings.

Josh Strawn (6-1) suffered his first loss of the year, allowing 10 runs on 12 hits in 4 2/3 innings of work, leaving with the game tied with two outs in the fifth. But a single, double and home run by Jackson was how the RedHawks greeted Derrick Miramontes, and the AirHogs found themselves down by five.

Grand Prairie got a run back on Trent Lockwood's ninth home run of the year off Mike Zenko (3-1) in the seventh, but that was all the AirHogs would get the rest of the way, with Zenko picking up the win with 3 1/3 innings of relief, allowing just the Lockwood home run along with another hit and three walks - but no other runs.

The RedHawks answered that run with an RBI single by Jon Gaston in the seventh off Cody White, while Joe Harris (four) and Kyle Dahman (three) got the final seven outs in order to finish things off.
