July 12, 2012 - American Association (AA)
El Paso Diablos News Release

EL PASO, TX- The Diablos scored four of their six runs in the last three innings, making a winner of starter Reymond Cruz (4-3) and winning for the fifth time in seven games on the road with as 6-2 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park.

El Paso had at least one hit in every inning and ten total in winning their straight overall. The loss for Lincoln gave them 32 defeats, most in the American Association.

It was the Saltdogs that took the early lead on Cruz, jumping out to a 1-0 lead on a solo home run by Stephen Holdren. But El Paso returned the favor when Daniel Nelson homered to tie the score in the top of the fourth.

Later in the inning, the Diablos took their first lead when J.J. Muse's fly ball to right was dropped by Asif Shah, allowing Jonathan Cisneros to score to make it 2-1 El Paso. Cisneros would finish the day 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

Lincoln tied the game on Shah's RBI single in the bottom of the fourth, but Cruz shut down the Saltdogs the rest of the way, finishing his evening with six innings allowing just six hits and striking out three.

El Paso gave Cruz a chance to win by taking the lead in the seventh off former Diablo Ronny Morla (0-1), who had just been traded to Lincoln earlier in the day. With runners on second and third, Jermy Acey (playing in his first game with El Paso) hit a ground ball to second. Danny Espinosa's throw home was not in time to nab Welington Dotel, who scored to give the Diablos a 3-2 lead.

El Paso would add on three runs in the eighth and ninth to finish off the win.

The Diablos (19-31) will try and win their fourth straight on Friday in game two of the series with Lincoln, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. (MST).
