Austin Wilson named MWL Player of the Week

Clinton, IA - Austin Wilson was named as the MWL Player of the Week (4/28-5/4) after a 9-for-24 (.375) showing at the plate in seven games. Six of Wilson 's nine hits were for extra -bases, including three doubles, one triple, and his second and third home runs of 2014.

The 2nd round pick (49th overall) in 2013 out of Stanford drove in 11 RBIs and currently leads the MWL with 24. He also scored three times and drew three walks. On Saturday in Wisconsin, the right fielder went 2-for-5 with a double and capped off a five-run ninth inning with a two-run HR. He knocked in a career-high 6 RBIs and helped Clinton storm back from a 12-4 deficit after five innings to win 16-13.

The honor is Wilson's second of his career. The 22-year-old was named the Player of the Week (8/26) in the Northwest League last year with the Everett AquaSox.
