Bats Quiet in Opener

(Geneva, IL)- Clinton scored five unanswered runs in a 5-1 win over the Burlington Bees in the series opener at Community Field on Monday night.

Chad Hinshaw started the scoring with a bang, smashing a solo homerun to left, his third of the season, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead in the first.

After scoring a run in the top of the third the LumberKings took a 2-1 lead when Tyler O'Neill crushed a solo homerun to left.

Clinton went on to score three runs in the seventh and would hold on for a 5-1 win. Eddie Campbell (2-1) picked up the win for the LumberKings, striking out six in six innings. Bees's starter Clint Sharp (0-3) was pegged with the loss despite going six innings allowing just two runs on six hits while striking out three. With the loss the Bees fall to 15-14.

The Bees continue a three game series with the Clinton LumberKings Tuesday night at 6:30 PM at Community Field.
