Dayton Dragons News Release

DAYTON, OHIO-The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster changes today:

Right-handed pitcher Dan Langfield has been promoted to Dayton from the Reds extended spring training camp in Goodyear, Arizona.

Right-handed pitcher Tony Amezcua has been assigned from Dayton to Billings (Pioneer League).

Additionally, left-handed pitcher Aroldis Chapman, who had been with the Dragons on a Major League injury rehabilitation assignment, has been removed from the Dayton roster. Chapman made two appearances for the Dragons, throwing a scoreless inning in each game.

The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.

Langfield was the Reds third round draft pick in 2012 out of the University of Memphis. He was rated as the Reds #11 prospect entering the 2013 season but missed all of 2013 with a right shoulder injury. He has not pitched in an official game in 2014.

Langfield pitched at Billings in 2012 and went 3-0 with a 2.68 earned run average in 15 appearances (five starts). He struck out 54 in 37 innings and was the Reds Minor League Pitcher of the Month for August, 2012.

Amezcua appeared in three games for the Dragons, going 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA as a reliever.

The Dragons continue a six-game road trip tonight at Great Lakes at 7:05 p.m. (EDT). All Dragons games can be heard on WONE 980-AM, via the internet at wone.com, or through the Dragons Mobile App. The next home game is Thursday, May 8 vs. Fort Wayne at Fifth Third Field at 7:00 p.m. Call (937) 228-2287 for ticket information.
