CEDAR PARK, Texas - Cady Lalanne posted a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds and Atlanta Hawks assignee Walter Tavares also posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Austin Spurs (25-18) fell to the Reno Bighorns (27-16) 121-115 Friday night at Cedar Park Center.
Keifer Sykes posted a 21 points for Austin, while San Antonio Spurs assignee Jonathon Simmons contributed 20 points.
Erick Green led Reno with 27 points, and teammate Ricky Ledo posted 20 points.
Austin and Reno exchanged baskets to start the first quarter before Austin went on a 11-3 run with seven minutes remaining to take the lead 19-13. Austin continued their momentum to finish the quarter up 25-22. They scored 20 of their points (10-of-16) in the paint compared to Reno's eight points in the paint (4-of-11).
Reno fought back in the second to take the lead, 31-29, three minutes into the quarter. Austin stayed close, but Reno sunk five three-point shots that helped them maintain the lead. The quarter saw seven lead changes with Reno finishing the half up 60-53. Simmons led Austin with 12 points, while Green posted 11 points for Reno.
Reno controlled the start of the third, but Austin used a 10-0 run to start the quarter to pull within four, 65-61, with nine minutes remaining. Reno responded with an 8-0 run of their own to grow their lead to 12, 73-61, with eight minutes remaining. Austin fought back to tie the game, 82-82, on a free throw by Tavares with four minutes remaining. Reno finished the quarter with a 93-86 lead.
Austin outscored Reno 29-28 in the fourth, but Reno came out on top finishing the game 121-115.
