
Bighorns Cruise to Victory over the Spurs

CEDAR PARK, Texas ---- The NBA D-League Western Conference Leader Reno Bighorns (27-16) defeated the Austin Spurs (25-18) 121-115 Friday night at the Cedar Park Center.
Erick Green scored 27 points and added four rebounds and two assists to lead the Bighorns. Ricky Ledo notched 20 points, eight rebounds and three assists as Kadeem Jack had 17 points and seven rebounds. Reggie Hearn followed with 17 points and four rebounds.
Cady Lalanne led the Spurs with 22 points and 13 assists. Kiefer Sykes added 21 points and three rebounds for the Spurs. Walter Tavares recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 assists.
The first quarter proved to be a tightly-contested battle that saw four lead changed and three ties. The Spurs ended the quarter with a narrow 25-22 lead over the Bighorns. Ledo netted six points and grabbed two rebounds in the quarter.
The Bighorns took control of the lead in the second quarter after a lay-up from Stockton early in the quarter. The Bighorns sunk six three-pointers in the quarter to maintain a lead over the Spurs. The Bighorns led the Spurs by nine points with a minute left in the first half. Green Led the Bighorns in the quarter with 11 points, two rebounds and two assists.
The Bighorns would head into the locker room at the half leading the Spurs 60-53.
The Bighorns would maintain their advantage over the Spurs after going on an 8-0 run, giving the Bighorns a 73-61 lead with eight minutes remaining in the quarter. The Bighorns won the frame 93-86 leading the Spurs 93-86 heading into the final quarter. Green led the Bighorns in the quarter with 11 points behind a 4-5 shooting effort.
The Bighorns would continue to control the game in the final quarter having a 16 point advantage midway through the quarter. The Spurs closed their deficit to four points twice during the quarter, but did not overcome the Bighorns. Green would score 14 of his 27 points in the second half to lead the Bighorns to a 121-115 victory.
The Bighorns return to the Reno Events Center Sunday, Mar. 20 to host the Texas Legends at 7 p.m.
