BAKERSFIELD, CA, - Despite 31 points from Tu Holloway Thursday night, the Texas Legends (20-23) fell to the Bakersfield Jam (20-23) 105-107 in their first of a five-game road trip.
The two teams exchanged leads in the first behind 14 points apiece from Texas' Chris Douglas-Roberts and Bakersfield's Terrico White. The Jam found themselves ahead by four going into the second and took a 52-46 lead into the locker room despite several offensive bursts from the visiting team.
Bakersfield controlled the third quarter and held a 12-point advantage at the final break, stretching to their largest lead of the night (14) in the fourth. With 2:45 left in the game the Legends faced an 8-point deficit. Holloway hit back-to-back shots followed by a long ball from Jamil Wilson with 6 seconds to play to tie up the game, but Terrico White beat the clock with a driving layup that would end the Legends' efforts and seal the victory.
Holloway finished the night with 5 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals to round off his game-high performance. Douglas-Roberts added 21 points, 4 rebounds and Micheal Eric grabbed a double-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds.
The Jam were powered by Xavier Silas (31 points) and White (30 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists), and Cory Jefferson added the team's only double-double of 17 points, 11 rebounds.
The Legends will travel to Los Angeles next to take on the D-Fenders Saturday night at 8:30pm CT. Fans can catch all the action live at www.TexLegends.com.
