Austin FC News Release
Harrison, NEW JERSEY - Austin FC played to a 1-1 draw against New York Red Bulls on Wednesday night at Red Bull Arena.
The hosts took an early lead after an Austin own goal. John Tolkin sent in a cross to Dante Vanzeir, whose shot deflected into the back of the net.
The Verde & Black managed to level the score just before halftime when Sebastián Driussi scored his 10th goal of the 2023 campaign. Jhojan Valencia flicked on Rigoni's corner kick towards the back post, where Austin's captain headed the ball past goalkeeper Carlos Coronel in the 44th minute.
Austin's best chance of the second half came in the 68th minute when Driussi's shot from outside the box rolled just wide of the post. While the visitors couldn't find a winning goal, the team fought hard to keep New York out at the other end and earn an important away point.
Goal-Scoring Summary
