AUGUSTA, Ga.- Augusta scored two times in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 2-2 tie and claim a 4-2 victory in game one of three-game set at Lake Olmstead Stadium Saturday night. With the victory, Augusta keeps pace with division-leading Asheville improving to 32-22 this half, while the RiverDogs drop their third in a row to fall to 22-30.

The loss is the fifth straight for Charleston away from Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park, marking the first time since August 2007 that the team has turned that trick. The RiverDogs have also absorbed their 10th loss in the last 12 road games overall and are back to .500 for the season at 61-61.

Augusta took a 1-0 lead in the third inning against RiverDogs starter Brandon Braboy on an RBI groundout by Josh Mazzola, who plated his league-leading 89th run of the year.

Charleston struck back in the top of the sixth against Augusta starter Aaron King, when Corban Joseph led off with a walk, stole second, advanced to third on Melky Mesa's single - which was the RiverDogs' first base hit of the evening - and scored on Addison Maruszak's sacrifice fly to center to tie the score at 1-1.

King took a no-decision allowing just one run on one hit in 5.2 innings while walking a season-high six batters and fanning six.

The GreenJackets seized a 2-1 lead against Braboy in the bottom of the frame on Juan Perez's RBI single that scored Mazzola, who doubled to deep right-centerfield to lead off the inning.

Braboy also took the no-decision for Charleston, surrendering two runs - one earned - on five hits in 5.2 innings with two walks and three strikeouts.

Again, the RiverDogs responded with the game-tying run in the top of the seventh for a 2-2 score on Abraham Almonte's RBI single, which increased his hit streak to a season-high 13 games.

However, Augusta laughed last scoring the decisive runs in the eighth inning against reliever Dan Kapala (6-1), who was saddled with his first South Atlantic League defeat. After a walk, hit by pitch and wild pitch, the game-clinching run scored on a fielder's choice by Eliezer Zambrano to make the score 3-2. Zambrano would then come plateward with two outs in the inning on a RiverDogs error.

Edwin Quirarte (6-1) got the win for Augusta hurling a scoreless eighth, and Chris Wilson notched his sixth save of the year with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

For Augusta, Francisco Peguero was 3-for-4, while Josh Mazzola registered two base hits. Charleston was held to four hits for the second time in the last three games, which were recorded by four different players.

Sunday's game is scheduled for a 5:35 start time at Lake Olmstead Stadium, with the RiverDogs giving the ball to Cory Arbiso (4-7, 3.74) and Augusta going with righty Orlando Yntema (0-2, 5.40)
