Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Intimidators battled through some wet weather on Saturday night at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium, taking a 5-3 victory over the Bowling Green Hot Rods at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium to extend their winning streak to a season-high eight games.

Drew Garcia plated two runs with a double in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Intimidators their final margin of victory. Garcia has now driven in seven runs in the last three games.

Kannapolis had surrendered a lead one half-inning prior, as starter Nevin Griffith was unable to get through the top of the sixth. With the rain falling hard, Griffith walked three straight and fired two wild pitches to allow the Hot Rods to tie the game, 3-3.

Griffith did not factor in the decision, going 5 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on five hits and four walks. Instead, the win went to Kevin Asselin (6-3), who got Griffith out of a bases loaded situation and went one scoreless inning beyond. Enrique Lechuga and Dan Albritton finished out the contest, with Albritton taking his second save of the season.

Neil Shenk (5-3) took the loss for Bowling Green, giving up the two runs on the Garcia double. Nick Barnese lasted only four innings in his start, giving up three runs on two hits and four walks.

Former number one overall pick Tim Beckham continued to crush Kannapolis, going 3-for-4 and finishing a home run away from the cycle in the defeat.
