
Augusta Wins Third Straight over Charleston

Charleston, SC - The Augusta GreenJackets (14-15) won their third straight over the Charleston RiverDogs (20-8) Friday night with a 10-6 victory. Andrew Davis drove in season high four runs and was a home run shy of the cycle while starter Craig Clark struck out seven to pick up the win.
Clark (2-0) worked six innings and allowed one run on four hits. The lefty did not walk a batter and faced the minimum through the first five innings and retired 13 batters straight at one point. Clark allowed a one-out single in the first inning, but then picked off the runner before retiring the next 13 in a row.
Charleston broke up the shutout in the sixth inning when Abraham Almonte connected for an RBI base hit scoring Brian Baisley.
The GreenJackets took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Nick Noonan connected for an RBI base hit with one out in the frame scoring Shane Jordan from second base.
Augusta pushed the lead to 4-0 in the third inning plating three runs with two outs in the half inning. Davis connected for a two-run triple and Ramon Corona had an RBI single.
The GreenJackets pushed the lead to 5-0 in the fifth inning when Davis scored on a throwing error from left-fielder Taylor Holiday after Matt Klimas singled to left.
In the seventh inning Augusta scored three more runs on an RBI double from Garrett Baker and a two-run double from Davis for an 8-1 lead.
Charleston plated four runs in the bottom half of the seventh to trim the lead in half but Augusta got two more runs in the eighth inning on an RBI base hit from Brock Bond and an RBI ground out from Noonan.
Joe Paterson pitched the final two innings for Augusta and allowed one run on one hit, a solo homer in the ninth to Baisley.
The GreenJackets return home on Saturday to open an eight game home stand. The Rome Braves are in town for four games with the first game Saturday. Augusta will send right-hander Orlando Yntema (0-2, 5.21) to the mound in the first game of the series while Rome will counter with lefty Eric Barrett (1-2, 2.05). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
Game Notes:
Brock Bond extended his hit streak to 15 games, a season high for Augusta.
The GreenJackets improved to 10-5 on the road this season.
Andrew Davis is the fourth GreenJackets player to collect four RBIs in a game.
Dan Runzler allowed four runs, three earned, on three hits in two thirds of an inning for Augusta. Waldis Joaquin worked a third of an inning and allowed one walk.
