Graham leads Tourists to Series Win Over Columbus

Columbus, GA- Connor Graham's outstanding pitching led the charge as the visiting Asheville Tourists defeated the Columbus Catfish 2-0 to secure a series victory at Golden Park Friday night. Graham posted 7 and two-thirds innings of shutout baseball, walking none, allowing only 4 hits, and striking out 9 Columbus Catfish. The Tourists' starting pitcher lowered his season earned run average from 2.96 to a very impressive 2.25.

The Columbus hitters were never able to mount an offensive attack against the Asheville pitchers. Catfish batters were only able to manage 4 hits Friday night, while going down on strikes 11 times and leaving 7 runners on base. Maiko Loyola, Reid Fronk, Steve Vogt, and Ian Paxton each tallied a hit en route to the home-team's sixteenth loss of the season, compared to its 12 victories. Asheville, on the other hand, notched its twenty-first win in 2008 and has a chance to take sole possession of first place in the South Atlantic League with a Charleston RiverDogs loss.

The Columbus Catfish now take to the road for an 8-game road trip to Greenville and Augusta. They will return to Golden Park May 12th to host the Hickory Crawdads.
