The week that was:

Thursday, November 15, Florida Everblades 3 @ Augusta Lynx 5

Led by goals from five different scorers, the Augusta Lynx stayed perfect at home this season with a 5-3 win over the Florida Everblades. #6 Will Bodine kicked off the scoring in the first period as he blasted home his first goal of the year on the power play with a shot from the point with helpers from #11 Matt Christie and #20 Matt Auffrey. However, the Everblades would strike right back and sneak two straight goals past goaltender #1 Nathan Marsters to take a 2-1 lead into the lockerroom. However, that would be all Marsters and the Lynx would allow as the blew up in the 2nd period for three goals. First, #19 Aaron Slattengren stole a bad pass at the Florida blueline and raced in alone beating Tyler Plante to the blocker side for his team-leading 6th goal of the year. The Lynx would take the lead thanks to a beautiful goal from #25 Adrian Veideman who was the recipient of some nice cycling by #23 John Laliberte and #9 Louis Goulet. The Lynx made it 4-2 on a 5 on 3 power play as Auffrey collected a back-door rebound and slammed it home with help from Christie and #12 Ryan Dingle. The 3rd period was all Lynx defense and Marsters as they continually shut the door on the Everblades. Goulet would score his first goal of the season, off a rebound from a drive from #3 Justin Coutu. A late 'Blades goal made it 5-3 with a minute remaining, but the damage had been done as the Lynx moved to an even 5-5-1 on the season.

Friday, November 16, Columbia Inferno 4 @ Augusta Lynx 7

In four home games this season, the Lynx are undefeated and have scored 21 goals. Their most goals at home this season to date came on Friday night as they battled their way past the Columbia Inferno with a 7-4 win, putting together their second winning streak of the season. The first period saw only one goal by Lynx captain #9 Louis Goulet who was the beneficiary of some great patience by #19 Aaron Slattengren who waited for Goulet to streak in on a 2 on 1 and found him on the back door. The first half of the game was highlighted by the great goaltending of Jeff Jakaitis for the Inferno and #35 JP Levasseur for the Lynx. The Inferno tied the game at 1-1 early in the 2nd period on the power play, but Augusta would answer right back with two goals, the first from #11 Matt Christie and the second from #23 John Laliberte with assists to #15 Eric Lundberg and #25 Adrian Veideman on a 5 on 3 power play. In the 3rd period both teams would explode for a combined seven goals. Columbia made it 3-2 before Laliberte answered right back on his second goal of the night for a 4-2 lead with help from Lundberg and Veideman again on the power play. #21 Bobby Bolt made it 5-2 with a great individual effort on a shorthanded breakaway for his first goal of the season. The Inferno struck right back with two quick goals to make it 5-4, but the Lynx put the game away with another goal from Christie who banged home a loose puck with help from #12 Ryan Dingle and #20 Matt Auffrey. Auffrey put the game out of reach late in the 3rd period on the power play with his sixth goal of the season with help from Christie and Dingle.

Saturday, November 17, Augusta Lynx 1 @ Columbia Inferno 5

Playing their 3rd game in less than three days, the Augusta Lynx traveled to Columbia for a rematch against the Inferno, a night after defeating them in Augusta 7-4. Saturday was a little different storyline. The Inferno came out on fire the first 10 minutes, peppering Lynx goaltender #1 Nathan Marsters with shots and getting on the board first with a goal from Brad Ralph who collected a shot off the end boards and slid one under Marsters for a 1-0 lead. Augusta would not score in the 1st period, but outshot the Inferno 12-10 in the period. The 2nd period was opened up with a Lynx shorthanded goal from #19 Aaron Slattengren who took a pass from #9 Louis Goulet and #15 Eric Lundberg, racing in on a breakaway and slid the puck under Todd Ford before getting check from behind into the net for a 1-1 tie. However, late in the period the Inferno took a 2-1 lead thanks to the first goal of the season from Liam Huculak, who banged home the 3rd shot after a flurry in front and two saves from Marsters. The 3rd period began with Augusta looking to tie the game, but it was not to be as the Inferno scored three goals in the final frame to win 5-1. Brad Ralph continued to be a thorn in the Lynx side with two more goals and two assists, including another goal in the 3rd period. Dan Sparre and Owen Fussey also scored in the 3rd period for Columbia who ended up outshooting the Lynx 32-31 on the afternoon.
