Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush, along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that forward Derek Damon and defenseman J.D. Forrest have been called up to the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League.
Damon heads to Albany riding a red-hot month of November. Damon, who turned 27 on November 12, is currently riding a five-game point scoring streak during which he has scored eight goals and added six assists. The Bangor, Maine native is currently tied for the ECHL lead in scoring with 20 points (9g, 11a) in 13 games.
During the month of November, Damon has 16 points in nine games, and registered his first career-hat trick on November 13 at Columbia and has twice scored a career-high four points in one game. The call-up to the AHL is the second of his career and is the first since he made his professional debut in 2005-06 by skating in three games with Lowell.
Forrest joins Damon in heading to Albany where the 26-year-old was slated to play last season before suffering a season-ending injury. Forrest has picked up points in five of the last six games with the Everblades and overall has eight points (1g, 7a) in 12 games this season. Prior to last year, the Auburn, New York native played two seasons in Finland where he tallied 30 points in 96 games.
