North Division Heating Up With Cincinnati In First

Two road wins at Dayton and a win at home against Trenton helped Cincinnati move into first place in the North Division at 9-3-1. Reading and Elmira are both 8-5-1 and tied for second in points with 17 while Wheeling (6-3-1), Johnstown (6-5-1) and Dayton (5-5-3) are tied with 13 points.

Cincinnati welcomes Wheeling, which has won its last three games and is 5-1-1 in the last seven, on Tuesday before hosting Dayton on Friday and Saturday. Wheeling will host Dayton on Wednesday and Johnstown on Saturday while traveling to Johnstown on Friday and Trenton on Sunday.

After concluding its five-game road trip on Tuesday at Gwinnett, Elmira will return home to host Trenton on Friday, Reading on Saturday and Columbia on Sunday. The Jackals, who are 3-1-0 on their road swing, are 4-3-1 at First Arena.

Jean-Michel Daoust (7g-10a) and rookie David Desharnais (6g-11a) are tied for the Cincinnati team lead with 17 points in 13 games. Desharnais leads the ECHL in plus-minus rating with +12 while he is tied for the league rookie lead with 11 assists and second among first-year players in scoring.

In the three games last week, Daoust had four goals, including a game winner, and three assists, including two on game-winning goals. He has scored a goal in six consecutive games (7g), tying the longest streak in the ECHL this season and one game shy of the team record held by Nick Bootland, who scored a goal in seven straight games from Mar. 6-23, 2002.

The Cyclones lead the ECHL in scoring with 4.08 goals per game while ranking second in goals allowed with 2.23 per game. Cedrick Desjardins is 3-0-1 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.25 and a save percentage of .952 in his last four starts while Dov Grumet-Morris is 3-0-0 with a goals-against average of 2.00 and a save percentage of .918 in his last three games. Desjardins is 4-1-1 and tied for the league lead with two shutouts while ranking fifth in goals-against average with 2.16 while Grumet-Morris is 5-2-0 and seventh in the ECHL with a goals-against average of 2.29.

Adam Henrich has scored the game winner in each of Wheeling's last three victories, tying him for the ECHL lead with three game-winning goals. Henrich leads the Nailers with eight goals while his 13 points in seven games tie him for second with Paul Bissonnette (3g-10a). Sean Collins leads the Nailers and is second in the ECHL with 15 assists in 10 games.



Alaska, Las Vegas, Victoria Battle Atop National Conference

Perennial contenders Alaska (9-3-1) and Las Vegas (10-2-0) and newcomer Victoria (10-3-0) are battling atop the National Conference as the Wranglers have won their last six games while Victoria has won five in a row and Alaska has won its last three.

Las Vegas, which has won its last five road games to improve to 8-2-0 in the last 10 games, will return home to host Phoenix (5-7-0) on Tuesday and Sunday. Victoria, which has won its last two games on the road, travels to Idaho for games on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Alaska will head back onto the road, where the Aces are 4-2-1, to visit Stockton on Wednesday and Friday and Fresno on Saturday.

The Salmon Kings have won their last seven home games and their 7-1-0 record after eight home games is their best ever, including last season when they were 4-3-1 after eight games before finishing 21-14-1, the best home record since the team relocated in 2004-05.

Leading the Victoria offense are Milan Gajic, who is tied for the league lead with 20 points and third with 13 assists, and Ash Goldie, who is tied for second with 10 goals and tied for 10th with 16 points. Billy Thompson has won his last four starts to improve to 4-2-0 while lowering his goals-against average from 4.03 to 3.11 while raising his save percentage from .871 to .911. Julien Ellis has won his last three starts to improve to 6-1-0 with a goals-against average of 2.71 and a save percentage of .929 which ties him for third in the league.

Adam Cracknell leads Las Vegas with 15 points in 11 games, including 10 goals tying him for second in the league, while brothers Peter Ferraro (6g-7a) and Chris Ferraro (4g-9a) each have 13 points in 12 games. Rookie Daniel Manzato is 4-0-0 with a shutout, a goal-against average of 1.71 and a save percentage of .944 in four games with the Wranglers and is 6-0-0 overall while ranking second in the league in goals-against average with 1.81 and save percentage with .945.

Alaska's Chris Beckford-Tseu is 6-0-0 with a shutout, a goals-against average of 2.03 and a save percentage of .930 in his last six starts. He has won his last seven starts to improve to 7-1-0 and lead the ECHL in wins while ranking fourth with a goals-against average of 2.16 and sixth with a save percentage of .927. Veteran Kimbi Daniels (7g-8a) and rookie Josh Soares (8g-6a) are leading the Aces offense.



Gladiators Off To Best Start in Team History

Winning the only game they played last week, Gwinnett leads the ECHL with a winning percentage of .864 and is off to the best start in its history at 9-1-1 and 19 points. Texas went 1-1-1 against Elmira and is in first place in the South Division with 20 points (9-2-2). Charlotte has six points in its last four games and is tied for fifth in points with 14 but is third in the division in winning percentage at .700.

The Gladiators host Elmira on Tuesday, Texas on Thursday and Charlotte on Saturday while traveling to South Carolina on Friday. Gwinnett is 3-0-0 on the road and the only team in the league without a road loss, unless you include Phoenix, which hasn't played a road game after beginning the season with 12 consecutive home games.

The Wildcatters play at Augusta on Tuesday, at Gwinnett on Thursday, at Charlotte on Friday and at South Carolina on Saturday. Texas has won its last seven road games, including a 5-4 shootout win at Gwinnett on Nov. 10, to improve to 7-1-0 on the road after winning a team record 20 road games a year ago.

Gwinnett leads the league in goals allowed with 2.18 goals per game while ranking second in scoring with 4.00 goals per game, on the power play at 25 percent (22-for-88) and on the penalty kill at 87.9 percent (58-for-66).

Lou Dickenson of the Gladiators has an eight-game point streak (4g-9a) which is the second-longest streak in the ECHL this year behind teammate Dirk Southern, who had a nine-game streak (4g-6a) from Oct. 20-Nov. 10. Dickenson leads Gwinnett with 14 points (5g-9a) while Derek Nesbitt leads the team with seven goals and five power-play goals.
