Texas Wildcatters News Release

BEAUMONT, TX- The Wildcatters maintained their hold on first place in the South Division after going 1-1-1 versus the Elmira Jackals in a three-game series last week.

The Wildcatters dominated Elmira 6-3 Friday night in the series opener. Danick Bouchard and Ross Carlson each scored twice, Brandon Benedict registered his fifth point since moving to the top line and David Schulz scored the game winner on his first professional goal. Anton Khudobin won his fourth straight and remained unbeaten on the season.

Saturday saw the Wildcatters' ten-game unbeaten streak come to an end with a 4-1 loss to the Jackals as Peter Aubry fell to 4-2 on the season but made 26 saves in the effort. Carlson extended his points streak to three games with the lone Texas goal in the contest, his fifth of the season.

Khudobin would return to the net Sunday afternoon and give a sterling performance, allowing only one goal and making 32 saves in regulation and overtime, but the Wildcatters would fall 2-1 in a shootout. Cleve Kinley would score his third goal of the season but Elmira's Dan LaCosta would prove impenetrable in the shootout.

With the point Sunday, the Wildcatters (9-2-0-2 = 20 pts) break a deadlock atop the South Division and take sole possession of first place over the Gwinnett Gladiators (9-1-0-1 = 19 pts).
