Marlies recall trio of defensemen

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Nov. 19, 2007)- Defensemen Reid Cashman, Phil Oreskovic and Patrick Wellar have all be recalled to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, Columbia Inferno head coach and director of hockey operations Troy Mann announced today.

"It's a great opportunity for the three of them," Mann said. "It's unfortunate for us that we're losing a chunk of our defensive corps, but this is a big positive for their careers."

Cashman, 24, has two assists and two penalty minutes in two games with the Inferno after having been sent down Monday, Nov. 12. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound native of Red Wing, Minnesota has two assists and two penalty minutes in three games with the Marlies this season.

Oreskovic, 20, has four assists and 19 penalty minutes in 13 games with the Inferno after having been sent to Columbia during the Inferno's training camp. The 6-foot-3, 215 pound defenseman from North York, Ontario was selected 82nd overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Wellar, 23, has nine points (three goals, six assists) and 19 penalty minutes in 13 games with the Inferno this season. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder from Carrot River, Saskatchewan was selected 77th overall by the Washington Capitals in the third round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
