
Auger's two-goal effort helps Komets past K-Wings

Fort Wayne, IN - Avenging an overtime loss from the night before, the Fort Wayne Komets defeated the Kalamazoo Wings 4-2 Sunday night at the Allen County Memorial Coliseum.
For the second straight night, neither the K-Wings nor the Komets were able to score in the opening 20 minutes.
Striking twice in a span of 59 seconds the Komets jumped ahead 2-0 early in the second stanza. Chris Auger started the scoring by knocking in a rebound for his team-leading 16th goal of the season 5:35 into the period.
Applying more pressure moments later Shawn Szylowski (2nd) slid in a wrister from the between the circles.
Auger (17th) added to the Komets lead midway in the third period by tipping in his own rebound for his second goal of the night.
Kalamazoo responded two minutes later with a goal from Eric Kattelus (11th). Battling in front of the net, Kattelus' slap shot deflected off a Komet and over the goal line 13:18 into the period.
Kattelus (12th) brought the K-Wings to within a single goal with his second tally of the game with 1:58 remaining in regulation. Following the goal Fort Wayne's Ben Meisner received a game-misconduct for throwing equipment. Meisner was replaced by Max Strang.
Brandon Marino (16th) put the game out of reach with 39.4 seconds remaining by tacking in an empty-netter to cap off a three-point (1 goal, 2 assists) night.
The K-Wings will return to Wings Stadium to start a three-game home stand this Wednesday, January 15th with a 7p.m. face-off versus the Komets during a 5:01 Wednesday featuring $2 beer, $2 hot dogs and $1 Pepsi products. January 15th will also be a Winning Wednesday presented by WNWN. If the K-Wings win, all fans will receive a FREE ticket voucher for Kalamazoo's home game on Saturday, January 18th versus the Gwinnett Gladiators on ZOOperstars Night presented by Zoetis.
Tickets for all K-Wings home games are currently on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster locations, including www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000. Ticket office hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays.
Regular season ticket prices for home games are $13 and $17.50 for adults and only $7 for kids ages 12 and under. The price for all K-Wings premium night games (all colored ice games and the New Year's Eve game) are just $1 more. Fans can save money by purchasing K-Wings single-game tickets in advance. Tickets purchased on the day of a game increase by $2 (adults only).
Fans that plan on attending multiple games can avoid service fees plus enjoy a discount from the single-game price by purchasing a 12, 24 or 36-game flexi-plan. These plans, along with rivalry packs and group ticket packages may be ordered through the K-Wings Sales office by calling (269) 743-6011.
