Elmira Jackals News Release
READING, Pa. - January 12, 2014 - The Elmira Jackals close out a three-in-three series with the Reading Royals today at Santander Arena. The Jackals are looking for their third win in five tries on Reading's ice.
WHO: Elmira Jackals - Ottawa and New Jersey/NHL & Binghamton and Albany/AHL (10-18-4) at Reading Royals - Washington/NHL & Hershey/AHL (18-12-1)
WHAT: Jackals Away Game #18. Head to SplitRock Brewing Company at First Arena for the exclusive away game watch party. Game broadcast on Gem 98.7 FM begins at 4:50. Click here to listen live online.
WHERE: Santander Arena - 700 Penn Street, Reading, Pa. 19602
WHEN: 5:05 p.m.
The Jackals are facing the Royals tonight for the ninth of 16 meetings this season, and fifth of nine at Santander Arena. The Jackals are 2-5-1 against the Royals this season (2-1-1 on the road) after last night's 4-2 loss in Elmira. Reading has won three in a row against the Jackals (including four in a row in Elmira for the first time ever), but the Jackals claimed a 3-2 victory in Reading the last time the teams met here on December 15. Elmira has earned three of the last four standings points available in Reading, as well, with a shootout loss back on November 27. The games between the teams in this building have typically been close with an average margin of victory of 1.75 and each of the last two meetings decided by one goal. Two of Elmira's four road wins this season have been in Reading.
There are some teams the Jackals need to leap over to make it happen, but the task in front of them is to chase down Reading and Fort Wayne for the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference. The month of January gives Elmira a golden chance to reel those teams in because, including Friday and Saturday nights, nine of Elmira's next 11 games are against the Komets (5) and Royals (4). The Jackals are a combined 4-5-1 against Reading and Fort Wayne in the wake of last night's action.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals return to home ice on Friday, January 24 to take on the Fort Wayne Komets. Join us for Blade's Birthday Party! Don't forget that groups of 10 or more who book in advance receive discounts off the box office price and preferred seating based on availability. Call 607-734-7825 to get your group outing booked.
