
Atlanta Recalls Heins

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled defenseman Shawn Heins from the Chicago Wolves.
The 29-year-old blueliner leads Wolves defensemen with three goals and has registered six points in 18 games with Chicago. The Eganville, Ontario, native paces the Wolves with 36 penalty minutes this season.
Heins split last season between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the San Jose Sharks, recording one goal, two assists and 42 penalty minutes in 47 games. Overall, Heins has posted four goals; eight assists; 12 points; and 138 penalty minutes in 108 career National Hockey League games with the Sharks (1998-2003) and Penguins (2002-03).
Originally signed by San Jose on Jan. 5, 1997, the 6-foot-4-inch, 210-pound defenseman has played parts of three seasons in the AHL, registering 16 goals; 57 assists; 73 points; and 382 penalty minutes in 106 games.
