
Atherton, Lascek and Smolenak recalled

Johnstown, PA (February 27, 2007) - The Johnstown Chiefs announced on Tuesday that defenseman P.J. Atherton and forwards Stanislav Lascek and Radek Smolenak had been recalled to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
Atherton began his professional career in 2005-06, appearing in nine games and recording a goal and three assists with Springfield after completing his collegiate career at the University of Minnesota. In 106 games with the Golden Gophers, the Edina, Minnesota native scored five goals and 12 assists while helping Minnesota win the NCAA Championship in 2003. In 49 games with Johnstown this season, Atherton has scored four goals and 22 assists and is tied for second on the team with 17 power-play points (4ppg, 13ppa).
Selected in the 5th round (133rd overall) by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Lascek led Chicoutimi of the QMJHL in scoring, posting 135 points (47g, 88a) in 64 games. In 176 regular season games with the Sagueneens, Lascek, a native of Martin, Slovakia, scored 82 goals and 200 assists and ranked third on the team in scoring in both the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons. Lascek has scored 27 points (12g, 15a) in 25 games with Johnstown this season, and in 26 games with Springfield, he has scored two goals and two assists.
A native of Prague, Czech Republic, Smolenak played for the Kingston Frontenacs the past two seasons. Selected in the 3rd round (73rd overall) by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Smolenak recorded 74 goals and 70 assists in 132 career games with Kingston. This season, Smolenak has scored 25 points (13g, 12a) in 32 games with Johnstown, and has appeared in 14 games with Springfield.
