Spokane Chiefs News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. -- Spokane Chiefs rookie goaltender Campbell Arnold recorded 27 saves on Saturday night, recording his first career WHL shutout as the Chiefs topped the Prince George Cougars, 6-0.
Spokane utilized a balanced attack throughout the game as 12 different skaters registered points in the comfortable win. The scoring was opened by Filip Kral at 15:18 of the first when Adam Beckman was tripped up but managed to dish a pass from one knee cross-ice to Jack Finley, who chipped it back across to Kral who deposited it home to make it 1-0.
The Chiefs padded the lead in the second frame as they piled on goals from five different players as Eli Zummack, Matt Leduc, Bear Hughes, and Brandon Reller got in on the action in addition to Kral adding his second marker of the night. Spokane scored three goals in 1:36 to close out the period and take a commanding 6-0 lead.
Zummack earned second star honors with two goals and an assist while Kral added an assist to also grab three points on the stat sheet and first star recognition.
Arnold, who leads the WHL in saves by a rookie, was a perfect 27-for-27 on the night while Prince George's Jacob Herman went 32-for-38. The Chiefs went 1-for-3 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.
