Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs took over the first overall spot in the CHL standings with a 3-0 shutout of Oklahoma City on Friday night at the Ford Center . The win puts the Mudbugs ahead of the Rocky Mountain Rage by one point for the overall CHL lead.
Joe Ori and Tyrel Lucas had a goal and an assist each and John DeCaro stopped 37 shots to earn his sixth shutout of the season, and the team's ninth (including two in a row after Ken Carroll's 49 save blanking of Mississippi on Tuesday). The nine shutout wins on the season for Bossier-Shreveport are just one shy of the CHL record set by the Odessa in 00-01 and matched by Colorado in 04-05.
Ori got the Mudbugs on the board early on in the game, just barely slipping the puck across the goal line from a sharp-angle on the rebound of a Lucas shot. Ori's 16th goal of the year gave the âBugs the lead just 2:23 into the contest. Later in the period, Bossier-Shreveport connected on the powerplay for the 12th consecutive game. Elias Godoy started the play with a pass out of the defensive end to Ori. Ori skated into the offensive zone and passed to Daniel Pegoraro, who redirected to Lucas. Lucas one-timed a rocket over the shoulder of goaltender Jason Wolfe to put the Mudbugs on top by a pair after the first twenty minutes.
