Angels Reliever Kevin Jepsen to Rehab with Bees

SALT LAKE CITY - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that right-handed pitcher Kevin Jepsen will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake in tonight's home game against the Memphis Redbirds. Jepsen is expected to appear in two games with the Bees. Game time tonight is 6:35 p.m.

In additional movement, the Angels optioned right-handed pitcher Ryan Brasier to Salt Lake and right-handed pitcher Ty Kelley has been reassigned from Salt Lake to Single-A Inland Empire.

Jepsen, 28, had appeared in six games of relief for the Angels this season (0-1, 9.82) before being placed on the Disabled List on April 12 due to a right triceps injury. He appeared in 49 games of relief for the Angels in 2012, owning a 3-2 record with a 3.02 ERA. Jepsen also appeared in 23 games of relief for the Bees last season, finishing with a 2-2 record, 3.24 ERA and 35 strikeouts. The Anaheim, Calif. native was originally selected by the Angels in the second round of the 2002 Draft.

Brasier, 25, returns from his second stint with the Angels this season after making his major league debut on May 2 against Baltimore. He has appeared in two games of relief for the Angels this season. In 13 games of relief for the Bees in 2013, Brasier owns a 1-1 record with a 6.88 ERA, 18 strikeouts and three saves. The Wichita Falls, Texas native was originally selected by the Angels in the sixth round of the 2007 Draft.

Kelley, 24, has appeared in one game for the Bees this season, making his Triple-A debut on May 20 against Memphis. He has also appeared in two games for Double-A Arkansas (0-0, 9.00) and 11 games for Single-A Inland Empire (1-0, 1.76) in 2013. The Columbus, Ga. native was originally signed by the Angels as a nondrafted free agent on June 21, 2010.
