Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Infielder Tim Anderson, who played for Winston-Salem in 2014, has earned his first promotion to the Major Leagues, the Chicago White Sox announced Friday. Anderson becomes the 345th Winston-Salem alumnus to climb to the Majors, while he is the 37th to accomplish the feat during the Dash era (2009-present).

In 68 games with the Dash in 2014, Anderson posted a .297 batting average with six homers and 31 RBIs. A 17th overall selection by the White Sox in 2013, the Tuscaloosa, Ala., native scored 48 runs and swiped 10 bases with Winston-Salem. Anderson also registered one of the Dash's two walk-off homers on June 2 against Lynchburg. He jumped to Double-A Birmingham on August 22 of that season.

After playing just 10 games with the Barons in 2014, Anderson returned to the Double-A level in 2015. That season, the 22-year-old posted the third-best batting average in the Southern League with a .312 mark. Anderson also topped the circuit with 79 runs scored and 49 stolen bases.

Anderson continued his hot hitting with Triple-A Charlotte in 2016. With the Knights, he led the International League in hits with 75. Overall this season, Anderson is hitting .304 with 49 runs scored, four home runs, 20 RBIs and 11 stolen bases. He also had a league-best 25 multi-hit games.

The East Central College product entered the season ranked the number one prospect in the White Sox system by Baseball America.

Anderson is the sixth Winston-Salem alumnus to don a big league uniform for the first time in 2016 and the third in the last week. On Thursday, right-hander Tyler Danish earned his first call up to the White Sox from Double-A Birmingham. This past Saturday, outfielder Jason Coats received his first promotion to The Show and played in a pair of games before heading back to Triple-A Charlotte. The White Sox promoted right-hander Michael Ynoa and catcher Kevan Smith, though neither appeared in a game before returning to the Minor Leagues.

Righty J.B. Wendelken, whom the White Sox traded this offseason as part of the Brett Lawrie deal, joined Oakland's bullpen in early May. Wendelken was only the second former Dash star to make his Major League debut with someone other than the White Sox.

After a week-long road trip to Carolina and Wilmington, the Dash return to BB&T Ballpark on Thursday, June 16, for a four-game set against the Salem Red Sox to conclude the season's first half. Thursday's series opener is another Throwback Thursday, presented by Parr Investments, that will feature commemorative Warthogs jerseys.
