Winston-Salem Dash News Release

The Chicago White Sox have announced the following roster moves affecting the Winston-Salem Dash:

- INF Keon Barnum promoted to Double-A Birmingham from Winston-Salem

- LHP Andre Wheeler promoted to Double-A Birmingham from Winston-Salem

- INF Nick Basto assigned to Winston-Salem from Double-A Birmingham

A fixture in the Dash's lineup since 2014, Barnum has earned his first career promotion to Double-A after hitting .256 with one homer and nine RBIs in 30 games with the Dash in 2016. Barnum spent the first month of the season on the disabled list while working back from offseason surgery.

Like Barnum, Wheeler is making his first jump to the Southern League after being one of the Dash's most reliable relievers since the start of the 2015 season. This year, Wheeler was 2-1 with a 2.20 ERA in 16 appearances, during which he struck out 33 batters in 32.2 innings.

Basto spent about a month in Birmingham, posting a .188 average with eight RBIs in 22 games. During his first stint with Winston-Salem, Basto hit .345 with five homers and 18 RBIs in 30 games. He took home the Carolina League's Player of the Month honor for April.

The Dash's roster stands at 24 players, one shy of the Carolina League maximum, plus one on the disabled list.
