
Ames and Patterson Added to North Division Roster

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Today, the Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs announced that RHP Steven Ames and RHP Red Patterson have been added to the North Division roster for the 2012 Southern League All-Star Game.
Ames has been a stalwart in the Lookouts bullpen, posting a 2.45 ERA with four saves this season. In 29.1 innings of work, he has yielded 31 hits and nine walks, while striking out 28. Additionally, he has not surrendered a single run in 20 of his 25 appearances this season. Ames was selected in the 17th round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft out of Gonzaga University.
After spending his professional career as a starter, Patterson has transitioned to bullpen duties quite smoothly and effectively. He is 2-1 on the season with a 2.20 ERA. Patterson has pitched 41 total innings, spanning 25 games, and has yielded 33 hits and 13 walks against 43 strikeouts. Opposing hitters are hitting just .216 against Patterson and have only managed to hit one homer off of him this season. The Dodgers selected Patterson in the 29th round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft.
Patterson and Ames will join fellow-Lookouts 3B Pedro Baez, OF Blake Smith, 1B/C J.T. Wise, RHP Matt Magill, and RHP Ethan Martin in representing the North Division in the 2012 Southern League All-Star Game.
Additionally, the Southern League announced the starting line-up for the North Division. Baez will start at third and hit seventh, while Smith will hit eighth and start in left field.
The 2012 Southern League All-Star Game will be played at Smokies Park in Kodak, TN on June 19th. All players on Southern League rosters as of May 17th were eligible for the voting.
The Lookouts are currently on the road and will play game two of five against the Jackson Generals tonight before the Southern League All-Star break. The Lookouts will be back at AT&T Field on June 21st to play a five-game series against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
