Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release
On the first night of the Bay-to-Bay Series in Pensacola, the Blue Wahoos won 4-3 in 11 innings in front of an enthusiastic crowd. The win is the team's fifth straight which is the longest winning streak in the franchise's young history.
With the game tied at three, the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th, only one out and the crowd on their feet, the runners took off as Mark Fleury laid down a perfect bunt between the mound and the third base line scoring the winning run. The crowd of over 4,700 fans errupted as Fleury was mobbed past first base. The bunt was his third hit of the game.
All the fun continues tomorrow. Two great pitching prospects will square off against each other. Tony Cingrani will go for the Blue Wahoos against Tyler Skaggs (both lefties) for Mobile. Both pitchers are top 5 prospects for their respective organizations.
It's Thirsty Thursday which means $2 beer specials and $1 sodas. It all starts when gates open at 5:30. Dress in your favorite Pirate attire because we're making it Pirate Night. We will show special videos, have unique graphics, and our staff will be dressed appropriately as well. Feel free to dress up and join in the fun! In honor of Flag Day, we will have a special flag here that flew during battle in Afghanistan. It will be raised ceremoniously before the game. Stick around after the game for a special fireworks show presented by Warren Averett O'Sullivan Creel. If you have a flag or know of any flags that need to be retired properly, please bring them by. U.S. Naval Sea Cadets will be collecting the flags at the main entrance for a retirement ceremony they will be holding on Saturday, June 16 at Memorial Park.
If you can't make it, don't worry. The game will be televised live on WFGX My 35. You can also listen on 1450 ESPN Pensacola or watch online with MiLB.tv.
