Mobile BayBears News Release

The Mobile BayBears fell to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos by a 4-3 final in 11 innings Wednesday night at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium. With the bases loaded and one out for Pensacola in the bottom of the 11th inning, Mark Fleury laid down a suicide-squeeze bunt down the third base side of the infield as Josh Fellhauer broke for home and crossed the plate for the Blue Whahoos' 4-3 walk-off win.

Pensacola took an early 1-0 lead when Didi Gregorius drove home Ryan LaMare with a RBI double off of BayBear starting righty Gaby Hernandez in the first inning. Hernandez would retire 10 of the next 12 batters he faced, finishing the night with a no-decision after allowing just two runs on six hits over six innings of work. Right-handed reliever Matt Gorgen was credited with a blown save after allowing the tying run to score when Josh Fellhauer delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning. Lefty Eury De La Rosa suffered the loss, allowing the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning.

Mobile took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth when Dan Kaczrowski scored on a sacrifice fly from Evan Frey and Wladimir Sutil crossed the plate on an RBI double from David Nick. After the Blue Wahoos tied the game at two in the bottom half of the fifth, Matt Davidson put the BayBears back in front with a solo home run for a 3-2 Mobile lead. The run would be the BayBears last, as they finished the game scoring three runs on nine hits and leaving 16 men on base.

The BayBears will have an opportunity to clinch the first half of the Sothern League South Division Thursday with a win over the Blue Wahoos coupled with a loss by the Montgomery Biscuits. Mobile will start LHP Tyler Skaggs (5-3), while Pensacola starts LHP Tony Cingrani (1-0). Thursday night's game will be televised on WFGX Channel 35 and on Comcast Channel 19.
