Hultzen to Start All-Star Game for North Division

JACKSON, TENN. (JUNE 14, 2012) - For the second straight year, a Jackson pitcher will throw the first pitch of the Southern League's mid-summer classic. LHP Danny Hultzen has been named the starting pitcher for the North Division All-Star team by Smokies manager Buddy Bailey. Last year Jackson pitcher Jarrett Grube started for the North Division when the game was held at Pringles Park.

Hultzen this season is 8-3, with a league-best 1.19 ERA and has not allowed a run in his last 27.2 innings pitched. The lefty is joined in the starting lineup by CF Denny Almonte who will lead off for the North Division. SS Nick Franklin will bat third and catcher Jesus Sucre will bate fifth. In total, eight Generals were named to the Southern League North All-Star team.

The 2012 Southern League All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, June 19, with first pitched scheduled for 7:15 EST at Smokies Park in Kodak, TN.
