Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, December 29)... Rochester Americans General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the team has signed forward Mathieu Beaudoin (bo-DWAY) to a Professional Tryout (PTO). "We think Mathieu is a skilled player who can truly complement our team," Gage said. "He's put up some good numbers and right now we feel that he will be a great addition to the Rochester Americans."

The 23-year-old Beaudoin joins Rochester in his first season of professional hockey. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound forward made his professional debut with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL, notching an assist in one game. He then appeared in three games with the American Hockey League's Iowa Stars before returning to the ECHL.

Prior to his arrival in Rochester, Beaudoin spent a majority of the 2007-08 season with the Dayton Bombers. In 24 games with Dayton, the Rock Forest, Quebec, native registered 17 goals and 20 assists for 37 points.

Before jumping to the professional level, Beaudoin had an illustrious four-year collegiate career at Ohio State University (OSU) where he was a three-time Scholar-Athlete and an Academic Big 10 Selection. In 149 career games with the Buckeyes, Beaudoin notched 89 points (52+37) and 118 PIM.

As a senior, Beaudoin was named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's (CCHA) Scholar-Athlete of the year. During his sophomore season, he finished first on the team in goals with 23 and power play goals with 14. His 14 tallies on the man advantage tied him for fourth in OSU single season history. He also finished first on the team with shorthanded goals and was named the team's Most Improved Player.

Beaudoin is expected to meet up with Rochester tonight in Cleveland as the Amerks travel to Quicken Loans Arena for a North Division showdown against the AHL's expansion Lake Erie Monsters. The 7:30 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 Networks. The contest will be the second of six scheduled meetings between the two teams this season and the Amerks' first ever at Quicken Loans Arena. Rochester is 1-0-0 all-time against the Colorado Avalanche's affiliate.
