Goaltender Marc Denis to Join Admirals

NORFOLK , VA - The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-assigned goaltender Marc Denis to the American Hockey League's Norfolk Admirals, Lightning Executive Vice President and General Manager Jay Feaster announced today. Denis will join the Admirals on the road in time for their matchup against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Monday night.

Denis is a veteran of 348 NHL games with the Lightning, Columbus Blue Jackets and Colorado Avalanche. He has compiled a 112-179-31 record with a 3.02 goals-against average and .902 save percentage in his NHL career. This season with the Lightning, the 11th year pro has compiled a 1-5-0 record with a 4.05 goals-against average and .859 save percentage.

The 6-foot-1, 193-pound native of Montréal, Québec, was selected by Colorado in the first round (25th overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. Denis spent parts of three seasons with Colorado before being traded to Columbus during the 2000 off-season. He spent five seasons with the Blue Jackets and set a NHL record in 2002-03 when he played 4511 minutes in goal.

Denis was traded to Tampa Bay by Columbus on June 30, 2006, in exchange for left wing Fredrik Modin and goaltender Fredrik Norrena. He signed a three-year contract with the Lightning the following week. Denis has appeared in 54 games with the Lightning since then, going 18-23-2 with a 3.32 goals-against average and .879 save percentage in two seasons.

Denis has also appeared in 99 American Hockey League games, all with the Hershey Bears from 1997-1999. In his AHL career, Denis has a 37-46-9 record with a 2.86 goals-against average and .907 save percentage.

Denis played junior hockey with Chicoutimi of the Québec Major Junior Hockey League, going 62-45-7 with a 3.10 goals-against average in 124 games. He won gold medals in 1996 and 1997 with Team Canada at the World Junior Championships and was named the tournament's top goaltender in 1997.
