Despite having to play with a depleted lineup due to a number of NHL recalls, the Amerks managed to earn an important four points last week, picking up two wins in three games. Every point is critical, as the Amerks have had their lead in the North Division cut to three points by Hamilton. The streaking Bulldogs have picked up points in their last 12 games (10-0-1-1).

The Amerks won their weekend opener on February 16th by a score of 3-2 over the Atlantic Division leading Manchester Monarchs at The Blue Cross Arena. Amerks forward Rob Globke netted the game-winner late in the third to lift the Amerks to victory.

On February 17th, Amerks forward Michael Ryan netted his second natural hat trick in three games and added an assist, as the Amerks defeated the Syracuse Crunch at the War Memorial at Oncenter. Ryan netted his first natural hat trick on February 11th in the Amerks' 9-5 loss at Hamilton.

The Amerks capped their weekend with a 3-0 loss to the Manitoba Moose on February 18th at The Blue Cross Arena. The shut out marked the fifth time this season that the Amerks have been held scoreless.

PLAYER MOVES

Last week, the Amerks faced a flurry of transactions as forward Drew Larman was reassigned to Rochester by the Florida Panthers, and Drew Stafford, Clarke MacArthur and Michael Ryan were all recalled by the Buffalo Sabres.

Larman was sent back to Rochester on February 15th after playing three games with the Panthers. In those games, he registered a total of one shot on goal and a negative-one rating. He now has two goals, a minus-three rating and 15 shots in 16 games with the Panthers.

On February 16th, Stafford and MacArthur were recalled by Buffalo. Stafford netted a goal in the Sabres' 4-3 shootout loss to the Boston Bruins to earn first-star honors on February 17th. MacArthur is currently the Amerks' point leader with 59 (19+40).

The Amerks lost their third player of the week when Buffalo gave Ryan his second recall of the season on February 18th. In his first recall back in late November, Ryan registered six shots on goal in three games with the Sabres. He has 20 goals and 21 assists in 41 games with the Amerks this season.
