
Americans Defeat \'Bugs 4-2, Take 8-Of-10 In Season Series

BOSSIER CITY, LA- The Allen Americans defeated the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Saturday night, 4-2 in front of 3,839 at the CenturyTel Center. The Americans win over the âBugs was their 8th win in 10 tries against Bossier-Shreveport this season. Allen is now 6-0-1 all-time at CenturyTel Center.
Greg Gallagher got the Americans on the board early in the first period on a goal from Mike Berube at 3:49.
Colton Yellow Horn extended his point streak to 15 games with a goal late in the period to make it a 2-0 game in favor of Allen.
Judd Blackwater's power play goal at 9:44 of the second period put the Americans ahead 3-0, before David Rutherford finally got the âBugs on the board at 15:46.
Allen got their 3 goal lead back early in the third frame when Nino Musitelli scored a power play goal of his own, this one assisted by Yellow Horn and Bruce Graham.
Less than a minute later, Shawn Limpright brought it back to a two-goal lead for Allen, scoring at 10:52 from Travis Clayton and Clay Plume.
The game would end 4-2, with Chris Whitley getting the win in net for the Americans, and Ryan Munce taking the loss for Bossier-Shreveport.
With the win, the Americans move to 40-13-2 for the season, and clinch at least the second seed in the Berry Conference.
Allen returns home to the Allen Event Center Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM to take on the Odessa Jackalopes. Tickets are available at the Allen Event Center Box Office, and online via Ticketmaster. For more information, call 972-912-1000.
The Americans will then hit the road to face Odessa Tuesday and Texas Friday, before returning home Saturday the 12th against Wichita and Sunday the 13th against Bloomington.
