ALLEN, Texas - The Allen Americans defeated the Texas Brahmas 3-2 in overtime tonight at the Allen Event Center. The win advanced Allen's overall record to 18-7-2 (38 points) and brought the series record against the Brahmas to 3-1-1.

The Americans skated onto the ice for introductions to "Here Come the Hawks" as part of the North Texas Vintage Game Series. Allen wore red Dallas Black Hawks jerseys, while Texas donned white and red Fort Worth Wings sweaters in a night commemorating DFW's old rivalries. Former Dallas Black Hawks Duane "Whip" Wylie, Curt Ridley and Doug Shelton participated in the ceremonial puck drop before the game started.

Justin Bowers gave the Americans an early lead when he shoved a rebound in the net 34 seconds into the game. Allen headed into the locker room with a 1-0 lead.

The Brahmas' Jason Deitsch grabbed a power play goal at 2:23 of the second, which tied the game at one. The Brahmas then took a 2-1 lead on another power play goal, this one coming from forward Grant Jacobsen.

The Americans battled back in the third period, and newcomer Sean Perkins scored his first goal in Allen midway through the third period to tie the game. Defenseman Ryan Fairbarn scored at 4:11 of overtime to give the Americans the home win. Forward Bruce Graham assisted on all three Allen goals.

Charlie Effinger started in net for the Americans in his first game since coming off goaltender IR Dec. 15. Effinger was injured in the Nov. 28 contest when Brahmas forward James Heibert hit him after Effinger cleared a puck. He made 20 saves tonight.

Allen hosts Bossier-Shreveport at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Allen Event Center before traveling to Wichita for its first game there Thursday, Dec. 31, at 5:05 p.m.
