Pensacola 6, Shreveport-Bossier 0

Pensacola starter David Nathanson pitched an eight-hit complete game shutout and guided the Pelicans to a 6-0 win over Shreveport-Bossier. Nathanson struck out eight and was rarely in any serious trouble, as he earned his third win of the season. DH John Alonso hit his fifth home run of the season in support of Nathanson, and RF Chase Porch and 3B Dallas Christison each pitched in two RBI. Every Pensacola hitter had at least one base knock.

Sioux Falls 8, Grand Prairie 3

Sioux Falls starter Travis Kane allowed just three runs over eight innings, and the Pheasants offense came on late to bury Grand Prairie 8-3. Kane surrendered three runs in the first four frames, but settled down to allow just six hits in the game and pick up his second win of the season. Offensively, Sioux Falls took the lead in the bottom of the first on a three-run homer by LF Beau Torbert, and jumped ahead again in the fourth on an RBI double by 1B Trevor Lawhorn. The Pheasants added four insurance runs in the sixth, and reliever Andrew Pluta shut the door in the ninth. Grand Prairie 3B Greg Porter hit his 10th home run and knocked in all three AirHog runs in the loss.

Wichita 4, St. Paul 2

Wichita righty Nick Singleton and three relievers held St. Paul to two runs and just five hits, and led the Wingnuts to a 4-2 victory. Singleton surrendered just three hits and one earned run in 6.1 innings, before handing it over to three relievers, including closer Justin Dowdy, who picked up his 12th save of the season. The Wichita offense jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first and extended the lead with two runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth.

Fort Worth 7, El Paso 3

Fort Worth scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth, including three unearned tallies, to take the lead and beat El Paso 7-3. With the game tied heading into the eighth, the Cats capitalized on errors by 3B J.D. Reininger and 2B Hector Bernal to assume a four-run advantage. In the frame, C Kelley Gulledge knocked in the game-winning run with a single. All but one Fort Worth hitter tallied at least one hit, and starter Colin Allen allowed just two runs over 5.1 innings to give the offense the chance to explode late.

Lincoln 14, Sioux City 10

In a wild game, Lincoln outlasted Sioux City 14-10 in a contest that included no home runs among the 29 combined hits. Lincoln jumped out to a 7-1 lead after two innings, and kept adding runs thanks to a balanced offensive attack that included hits from eight different players. Leading the way was DH Phil Hawke, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI and two runs scored, and CF Gavin Dickey, who tallied four hits. Sioux City leadoff man Derek Schermerhorn also collected four base knocks in the loss.
