Amarillo Gorillas News Release

Odessa, TX 1/29/08 - Three nights after the Amarillo Gorillas matched their season best offensive output with seven goals against the New Mexico Scorpions, they set a new high with nine goals in a win over the Odessa Jackalopes on Tuesday night at the Ector County Coliseum. It was Amarillo's first win over the Jackalopes on the road, and second win in nine tries this year. Amarillo had big games from Bill Vandermeer with two goals and two assists, Austin Sutter who had a goal and three assists, Chris Lipsett with a goal and two assists and Chris Martini who finished with a goal and an assist as well.

The Gorillas came out flying in the game, scoring four goals in the first 11:18 of the contest, including three goals on three shots against goalie Alexandre Vincent, who has given Amarillo trouble all season long. Vincent was replaced in net by Mike Gorman, who gave up six more goals before the game was over, as the Odessa goaltenders combined to allow nine goals on thirty three shots.

Amarillo would go 3-7 on the power-play, while holding the Jackalopes to 2-9. Gorillas goaltender Dan McWhinney got his third straight win making 25 saves on 30 shots.

Amarillo has won three in a row overall, outscoring their opponents 21-10 over that span. Their next opponent will be on Friday night at home against the Arizona Sundogs.
