Mississippi RiverKings News Release

The Mississippi RiverKings activated goalie Sebastien Centomo today from injured reserve and traded fellow netminder Jeff Van Nynatten to the Tulsa Oilers for future considerations.

Centomo received his second all-star nomination this season, but could not participate because he hurt himself in his last game before the mid-season break on Jan. 12. He has a 13-9-1 record in his second go-round with the RiverKings this season, along with a 2.48 goals against average, a .916 save percentage, and three shutouts. The league named the 26-year-old its Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week on Nov. 12.

In 44 total games with the RiverKings, Centomo has a 29-10-1 record with a 2.31 GAA, a .924 save percentage, and four shutouts. The CHL named him its 2001-2002 Rookie of the Year with his 16-1 record.

The RiverKings acquired Van Nynatten from the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Jan. 14 for defenseman Bernie Chmiel. He went 1-2 with the RiverKings with a 2.67 GAA and a .905 save percentage. On the season, the 25-year-old has a 5-11-3 record with a 4.16 GAA and an .890 save percentage.

In other RiverKings news, the team has placed defenseman Peter Kennedy on the 14-day injured reserve list. Kennedy has two assists and a +3 rating in 12 games this season.

The RiverKings face the Corpus Christi Rayz on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. The pre-game show begins at 6:55 p.m. on Sports 56 WHBQ.
